I was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease (AD) at the age of 61 years. I began anti-amyloid therapy (AAT) at an early state and I am feeling fantastic at year later! I get to continue to LIVE and look forward to making more memories with my family and friends.
I am a patient advocate for comprehensive cognitive screening in primary care. Improved screening tools allow cognitive impairment to be identified earlier, enabling timely referral to neurology for a thorough diagnostic evaluation. When AD is diagnosed at an earlier stage, patients may be able to begin AAT sooner, when treatment has the greatest potential impact, leading to improved outcomes and slowed disease progression. I am also becoming a patient advocate for Michigan commercial insurance coverage to ATT. Michigan is one of only two states in the NATION that DOES NOT cover ATT for patients younger than 65 years of age. |

About Jamie
I am a 62 year young woman married to an amazing man for 41 years. Mother of 2 beautiful children, that gave us 5 gorgeous grand babies. I have an incredible group of family and friends, that I cannot imagine life without.
I have been very fortunate to work with my heart and my head in healthcare for 43 years. All of this has given me the most beautiful life that I appreciate every day, and I have so much more that I want to do!
Lastly, I am beyond thankful for my neurologist, Dr. Leahy and her team at Memorial Healthcare in Owosso, MI for their expert and compassionate care. This has allowed me the time to do the things I still have left to do! Dr. Leahy is a genius that puts her patients first and pushes for the needed care that is available! She is a commander in care for her patients.
