LACING UP HOPE An Original Poem by Allié McGuire Some mornings start heavy, the world feels tight, My legs whisper doubts before daylight. Pain hums low like a familiar song, Asking me softly how I’ll move along. I lace up hope when strength feels thin, I listen inward, then begin. Not because it’s easy, not because it’s planned, But because I still can. MS may knock, may slow my pace, But it will not claim my name or face. I rise, I choose, I take my stand, Not because I must. Because I can. ∎
